In the Coastal Empire alone, organizations that help the homeless have the need for more than 100 showers a day. Every person served by these organizations needs a clean pair of shower shoes (or flip flops) before they can bathe. This is to minimize the spread of communicable skin diseases (like athlete’s foot).
6 local teenagers are on a mission to make sure everyone who needs a pair of flip flops has them.
They are Oliver Howell (Savannah Country Day School), Ashley Ambos (Blessed Sacrament School), Megan Slatkovsky (Blessed Sacrament School), Lily Kate Conneff (St. Vincent Academy) and brothers Daniel and Brendan Mahoney (Benedictine Military School).
A $1 donation is all it takes to help ensure better health for a deserving person. The kids call their endeavor Flip Flop Drop. Won’t you help?
